Traffic Garden

Traffic gardens are scaled down versions of traffic infrastructure used to teach people, often children, about road safety.

You may have seen other parents teaching their kids to ride a bike in an empty parking lot in the evenings or weekends, or maybe you have done this with your kids. A traffic garden incorporates miniature versions of road infrastructure such as intersections and stop signs, lane lines, and more, providing a safe space to learn about traffic while providing a safe space for learning the basics of riding a bike.

As a result of our advocacy efforts, the construction of a Traffic Garden is part of Abbotsford’s new Transportation & Transit Master Plan. We will continue our advocacy for this facility & encourage you to contact the city and share your support for this project.

Our vision is to see the Abbotsford traffic garden connect to the Discovery Trail, and be open for public use, as well as institutional use by elementary and middle schools.
